The Focal Shape 65 offers an unrivaled quality of control, from the lower on the highest frequencies. With a 6.5 '' woofer with a flax membrane, an aluminum/magnesium "m" tweeter and AB class amplifiers, this monitoring speaker is essential for professionals looking for sound transparent perfectly defined. It expresses all its potential from a listening meter.

Acoustic Transparency

Like Shape 40 and Shape 50, Shape 65 is characterized by a stereo image that is both wide and extremely precise. Benefiting from the advantages of the Flax membrane, combined with the "M" profile tweeter, it delivers a very high-definition sound with redoubled clarity across the entire spectrum. Control is precise, right down to the extreme treble.

Optimal Integration

Designed to meet the needs of nearfield listening, Shape loudspeakers combine ingenious design with essential features and controls (XLR and RCA inputs, adjustable bass and treble levels, disengageable high-pass crossover, adjustable 160 Hz filter...).

Design

Sobriety and style define Shape 65. The MDF cabinet body is covered with a real walnut veneer. Its compactness, ventless design and mounting inserts make for optimal, flexible integration, even close to a wall.

The Focal Technologies

Passive Radiator For More Bass Presence

A passive radiator loudspeaker offers the advantages of a bass-reflex load in a very small footprint. It uses a bass loudspeaker with no motor (coil and magnet) instead of a port. This design extends the low-frequency response and delivers excellent power handling in a reduced loudspeaker volume.

Flax Membrane For The Purity And Precision Of Sound

As the key component of a loudspeaker, the membrane is at the heart of Focal's acoustic engineers' research. After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. Patented, this Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high quality French flax fibre placed between two thin sheets of glass fibre. It satisfies all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass and damping to deliver a neutral, natural, uncolored sound. It is an emblematic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products.

NIC technology Delivering High-Definition Sound

For very high-definition sound, control of the magnetic flux circulating in the loudspeaker is essential. Focal's acousticians have created a magnetic circuit of incredible stability, guaranteeing perfectly controlled sound: Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) technology. This patented technology resides in a Faraday ring whose dimensions, material and positioning are optimized to make the magnetic flux stable and the sound highly precise.

Stabilize Surround And Eliminate Vibrations With TMD Suspension

The engineers at Focal are experts in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.

  • Flax sandwich cone woofer

    - A 6.5-inch woofer uses a layer of lightweight, rigid flax fiber sandwiched between two layers of glass fiber. This technology, derived from Focal's high-end designs, results in controlled and articulate bass, as well as clear, detailed midrange.

    M-shaped inverted dome tweeter

    - The 1-inch aluminum-magnesium tweeter's M-shape increases its rigidity, reducing distortion. The unique shape and housing provide consistent horizontal and vertical directivity, creating a broad listening sweet spot.

    Dual passive radiators

    - Instead of a traditional bass port, the Shape 65 uses two 6.5-inch passive radiators on either side of the monitor. This design extends the low-frequency response and allows for placement close to a wall without the bass buildup often associated with ported designs.

    Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) surround

    - Borrowing technology from vibration dampeners used in skyscrapers, the TMD surround on the woofer's suspension helps stabilize the cone. This provides a flatter frequency response and improved sonic neutrality in the 1–2 kHz range.

    Neutral Inductance Circuit (N.I.C.)

    - This patented magnetic circuit provides an extremely stable and controlled magnetic flux. It helps to deliver highly precise sound and an optimized crossover while reducing harmonic distortion.

    Bi-amplified design

    - The Shape 65 features dedicated Class AB amplifiers for each driver. A powerful 80W amplifier drives the low-frequency woofer, while a 25W amplifier powers the high-frequency tweeter, for a total output of 105W.

    Built-in EQ controls

    - The rear panel includes three adjustable EQ bands for customizing the speaker's response to your listening environment.

    High-pass filter

    - A selectable filter allows you to set the cutoff at 45, 60, or 90 Hz, which is useful when pairing the monitor with a subwoofer.

    Low-frequency shelving

    - An adjustable filter at 250 Hz lets you boost or cut the bass by up to 6 dB.

    Midrange EQ

    - A 1.5 kHz bell filter provides up to 3 dB of boost or cut to adjust the midrange frequencies.

    High-frequency shelving

    - An adjustable filter at 4.5 kHz lets you boost or cut the treble by up to 3 dB.

    Automatic standby

    - The monitor has an auto-standby mode that engages after about 30 minutes of no signal, helping to save power.

    Versatile inputs

    - For connectivity, the monitor offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs to accommodate a wide range of professional and consumer audio equipment.

    Flexible mounting

    - Mounting inserts are located on the rear and bottom of the speaker, allowing for wall or ceiling installation with optional accessories.

    Walnut-veneer cabinet

    - The sealed MDF enclosure features a stylish real walnut veneer finish
