The Pilotone AA-903 is a vintage mono integrated tube amplifier designed and built in Brooklyn, New York by the Pilot Radio Corporation between 1952 and 1955. Pilot Radio Corp was recognized as one of the most prominent hi-fi brands during the golden age of hi-fi. With an organizational emphasis on reliability and affordability, Pilot produced a wide range of hi-fi products, including speakers, receivers, amplifiers, AM and FM tuners, and audio consoles. In 1954, Consumer Report magazine rated the Pilot AA-903 as one of the best amplifiers to purchase that year. Today, vintage audiophiles still hold Pilot Radio gear, including the AA-903, in high regard. Interestingly, engineers Dick Sequerra and Sid Smith, (considered a founding father of modern audio), were both employed by Pilot Radio Corp before their tenures with Saul Marantz and Marantz Audio.
The AA-903's front panel controls consist of the On/Off volume control, individual Bass and Treble control, and the Equalizer knob which acts as an input selector adjusting the equalization settings according to the selected input source.
The rear panel features designated speaker taps of 4, 8, and 16 ohms, and a switched AC outlet for powering other components.
