The Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat  smacked the peace, love, and doped up shit eating grin right off the face of the hippie counter culture.   It took only a matter of days, and singer-guitarist Lou Reed; bassist-organist and viola player John Cale; guitarist-bassist Sterling Morrison; and drummer Maureen Tucker laid down one of the m9st legendary sophomore albums ever.  1967 had New York City on the edge of complete collapse, this is how it sounded.
