Developed to reproduce the distinctive midrange voice and low-frequency resonance of tom drums, the ATOM provides a full-bodied sound with the attack and definition needed to maintain clarity in a dense mix. Its 30 Hz to 15 kHz frequency response captures the depth of larger floor toms while preserving the articulation and presence of smaller rack toms. The microphone's tailored sonic character is designed to produce a balanced, mix-ready sound with minimal equalization.
 
The ATOM features a cardioid polar pattern that focuses pickup on the intended drum while helping reduce unwanted sound from adjacent drums, cymbals, and other instruments. With a maximum SPL rating of 145 dB, it comfortably handles the high sound pressure levels produced by aggressively played drums without sacrificing clarity or definition.
 
Built for demanding recording and performance applications, the ATOM utilizes a heavy-duty die-cast metal housing and an interwoven brass and steel grille assembly. Its durable construction eliminates fragile plastic components and provides the reliability needed for frequent setup, transport, and close-miking applications.
 
A distinctive feature of the ATOM is its integrated shockmount locking system. Two precision-machined recesses in the microphone body engage with the included Avantone SSM shockmount, helping prevent the microphone from slipping or shifting during performance. The shockmount also provides mechanical isolation to reduce unwanted vibration and low-frequency transmission.
 
The included Avantone PK-1 Pro-Klamp allows the microphone to be securely attached directly to a drum rim, eliminating the need for a separate microphone stand and making positioning easier around crowded drum kits.
 
Although optimized for tom drums, the ATOM is equally capable of capturing other percussion instruments, including congas and djembes, as well as bass guitar amplifiers and other high-output sound sources.
 
Finished in Avantone's signature metallic Cabernet Red with a gloss black grille and polished nickel accents, the ATOM combines distinctive styling with professional performance and long-term durability.
