Designed to fit Avid's S4 series consoles, the Avid Control Strip Module (CSM) is one of the three core modules included in all S4 base configurations.
Giving you control of track levels, plugins, and other parameters through eight channel faders, the CSM makes mixing more like, well, mixing. With motorized faders, 32 top-lit knobs (four per channel), solo, and assign buttons, you'll enjoy the intuitive feel of a timeless old school mix desk. But make no mistake, this is state of the art, and you can outfit your console with up to 3 CSMs to support a 24-fader configuration.
The S4 series is a semi-modular digital console designed to give smaller facilities a budget-friendly way to bring the power of Avid's industry-standard S6 mixing system to their projects.
The S4 system starts with your choice of base systems consisting of up to 3 channel strip modules (24 faders max), a master touch module, a master automation module, and a frame.
The Avid S4 offers extensive integration beyond Pro Tools through EUCON, a high-speed Ethernet control protocol.
EUCON compatibility
- EUCON automatically detects the application in the foreground and remaps controls accordingly.
Multiple DAWs
- The S4 provides intelligent control over EUCON-enabled software, including Steinberg Nuendo, Steinberg Cubase, Apple Logic Pro, Merging Technologies Pyramix, and Adobe Audition.
Hybrid mixing
- Mix tracks from two different EUCON-enabled DAWs simultaneously.
Monitoring and audio post features
For audio post-production workflows, the S4 integrates with Pro Tools Ultimate and offers specialized features:
Comprehensive monitoring control
- Easily assign and control talkback, listen back, and speaker sources and levels for setups from simple mono to complex immersive audio.
Integrated Dolby Atmos workflows
- Experience hands-on mixing for Dolby Atmos projects with extensive integration, which helps to speed up turnaround time.
Enhanced visual feedback
- Get detailed visual information, including Pro Tools waveforms, meter layouts, and customizable metering displays.
VCA and Folder Track Spill
- Instantly expand VCA groups or track folders onto separate tracks for easy access to nested track

OLED display
- Above each fader is a high-resolution OLED display that provides track name, color coding, meter information, and other crucial session data.
Control knobs
- Each channel features four top-lit, multicolor rotary encoder knobs, which can be assigned to control plugins, pan, EQ, dynamics, and other parameters. Each knob has its own dedicated OLED display.
Tactile buttons
- The strip includes buttons for core functions such as solo, mute, select, and attention.
Module-wide features
Navigation and assignment
- A central control area contains 20 function selector switches to quickly assign channel strip functions across the module.
Plugin control
- The angled knobs on the module provide tactile, hands-on control over plugins, allowing you to intuitively adjust multiple settings simultaneously.
Deep DAW integration
- The module, along with the rest of the S4 surface, is powered by Avid's EUCON protocol, which provides high-speed, deep integration with multiple DAWs, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, and Nuendo.
Customization
