Original 1/4" analog reel-to-reel tape containing two authentic Boston Globe radio commercials recorded during the height of the Watergate era. The advertisements promote the Globe's political coverage while the events were still unfolding in real time, including references to Watergate, the possibility of President Nixon's impeachment, Attorney General Elliot Richardson, historian William E. Leuchtenburg's comparison of Watergate to the Teapot Dome scandal, and political editor Robert Healy.
 
In addition to the political content, the commercials also promote the Boston Globe's annual color photography contest, the newly announced Boston Globe Book Festival Film Competition, and period home-delivery service. These recordings offer a fascinating snapshot of Boston broadcasting and newspaper advertising from 1973, preserved on original analog tape.

Used vintage 1/4" reel-to-reel tape. This tape has been play tested and contains two Boston Globe radio commercials. Playback was good during testing. As with any vintage magnetic tape, it is being sold as a collectible archival item and no guarantees are made regarding long-term performance.
