The elysia xmax rack is a high-end Class-A analog processor designed for mastering engineers, mix engineers, and live sound professionals seeking powerful multiband control and exceptional sonic transparency. Built around a sophisticated Mid/Side topology, the xmax combines precise multiband compression, EQ shaping, and output control in one streamlined unit.
Class-A Circuitry with Mid/Side Architecture
At its core, the xmax uses a proprietary analog signal path that encodes the stereo signal into Mid and Side components for independent processing. The Mid channel is further divided into Low and Mid frequency bands, allowing for three dedicated compression paths. After processing, the signal is decoded back to stereo, followed by analog sweetening via a high-shelf filter, soft clipper, and output gain stage.
Flexible Compression with Smart Controls
The xmax features an intuitive Smart Global Release control to unify the behavior of all compression bands quickly. A VariLink function allows bands to be linked or controlled independently, offering tailored compression for each mix. Activate Punch mode to add dynamic impact or use the Side Band Mono-Maker to tighten up the stereo image by collapsing low frequencies in the side channel to mono.
Tone Shaping and Crossover Control
Tone control is handled with a one-knob shelving EQ, ideal for fast tonal shaping without distraction. The variable crossover gives you detailed control over low-end behavior, ensuring clean separation and focused bass energy across the mix.
Designed for Mastering, Mixing, and Live Use
Whether on the master bus, a group stem, or a live stereo mix, the xmax is engineered for clarity, punch, and speed. Use it on vocals, drums, guitars, piano, synths, or the full mix bus—its character adapts fluidly to the source, giving you refined analog glue in seconds.
Built-In Soft Clipping and Analog Metering
Derived from elysia's flagship alpha compressor, the xmax's soft clipper increases perceived loudness without digital overs, while preserving headroom for your converters. High-resolution analog meters show input/output levels, compression amounts, and clipping status across all three bands, giving you total visual feedback in real time.
