Each input channel is arranged vertically like a large-format mixing board, providing 5-segment LED metering, selectable 48V phantom power, mic and line-level operation, and a Legacy 4K switch that adds real analog color enhancement to any input source, inspired by the classic sound of 4000 Series consoles heard on countless hit records. Stunningly low noise, unrivaled EIN performance, and a huge gain range ensure optimal sound quality in any recording scenario. And with a wide range of I/O and routing options, as well as a plethora of included software, the SSL 12 can tackle just about any recording scenario you throw at it, from mobile recording setups, live performances, and podcasting applications, to serious studio work and sophisticated content creation.
 
Comprehensive I/O 
Despite it's compact size, the SSL 12 is loaded with a huge amount of professional studio features normally reserved for high-end rackmount interfaces. For tracking, the ADAT connectivity together with onboard talkback mic and an incredibly powerful cue mixer (that allows you to create up to 4 independent near-zero-latency performer mixes) handle the most demanding recording sessions. For mixing, alternative monitor switching and assignable front-panel control-room functions put everything you need at your fingertips. For production, USB Loopback, MIDI I/O, and DC-coupled outputs for CV control of synths and FX equip you with a serious toolkit to keep the creativity flowing.

Legacy 4K is an all-analog enhancement effect inspired by the character of an SSL 4000 Series console (often referred to as 4K). It distills two essential characteristics of the 4K sound into a single circuit. Engaging the Legacy 4K circuit introduces a forward yet musical-sounding high-frequency EQ boost, adding some excitement to your vocal or instrument. Secondly, add some subtle analog distortion with finely tuned harmonic content, to bolster any sound with more edge and personality.
