Elysia's museq is a creative, flexible two channel 5 band analog parametric EQ processor designed to give mixing and mastering engineers maximum freedom in filtering the frequencies of their signals without sacrificing quality or efficiency. With top-notch build quality and an open, highly musical sound, the museq can deliver punchy lows or airy highs with ease.
With stereo matched 21-stop potentiometers for instant recall, mix bus and mastering settings can be dialed in with minimal hassle, and the active FET-based bandpass stages ensure quality sound with minimal noise and excellent impulse response. Switching between efficient shelving style EQ or more precise cut filtering is as simple as the push of a button, and an extra warm mode allows the ultraclean character of the discrete Class-A electronics to be abandoned in favor of rich saturation.
For those looking for a versatile and powerful equalization processor that provides previously unimagined options for mixing and mastering that can exceed those offered by many other equalizers, the museq is an obvious choice.
Powerful Dynamic Control Active and Transparent Design
All filter stages of the museq utilize active designs without any inductors, instead consisting of only six transistors, two capacitors, and the resistor that determines the frequency. This FET circuitry forms a feedback-free bandpass that has a very musical and clean sound. The current feedback amplifiers in each active stage operate without the use of additional capacitors, which are normally inserted to eliminate high-frequency oscillation at the cost of frequency response, resulting in an overall natural, open, dynamic, and transparent sound.
Parallel Resonant Filter Design
Another great feature of the museq is the specially designed high- and low-pass filters: the high-pass resonant filter is actually a low-pass resonant filter with its phase flipped and mixed with the original signal. This is advantageous as it allows only the bass frequency to be processed by the filter, leaving the mid and high frequencies alone for an open sound.
Shelve or Cut
The outer bands of the museq provide a great amount of flexibility by enabling the ability to switch between shelving or peak cut filters. In standard mode, the filters function as sweet sounding high- and low-shelf filters for quickly and efficiently tailoring the fundamentals and airiness of your tracks. You can also independently switch these to become high- and low-cut filters with 12 dB per octave, with an additional resonance peak at the knee frequency. The resulting filter curves can provide a clean and punchy character by cutting the low-frequencies or a stretching of the bass range by causing a longer post-oscillation time. In the the high range, the resonance filter can put an accent on a selected frequency without boosting the whole spectrum, avoiding harshness or an unwanted shift of the whole signal into the treble.
Warm Mode
When Warm mode is selected, a slew rate limiter is activated, which reduces the speed of the output amplifier stages, affecting the frequency spectrum, the harmonics, and the transient response at the same time. Fast transients are slowed down, creating a rounder sound and since it influences the behavior of the output stages, the whole character of all EQ stages can be affected. Thus, it provides essentially two sound characters with the push of a button: A clean and clear standard Class-A processor mode, and a rich and saturated warm mode.
Switchable Parametric Bands
The museq allows you to switch between two Q factors for each of the three parametric bands: Wide (Q 0.5) and Narrow (Q 1.3). This does not have any effect on the maximum amplitude and provides an ever constant filter quality, via the constant Q principle, that is independent from the gain controller.
Professional-Grade Design Stepped and Matched Potentiometers
The museq features stepped conductive pots for all parameters with 21-steps each for instant recall, making mix and mastering sessions easy and painless. All pots are matched as stereo pairs and measured in-house for identical performance between the left and right channels.
Discreet Class-A Topology
The museq features high-quality, Class-A topology for its discrete electronics, resulting in minimal distortion and zero turn-on time. Every unit is rigorously tested and calibrated to the highest standard using in-house, computer-aided testing devices and custom tools.
Dynamite Build Quality (Dyn-o-mite!)
)With an extreme eye for detail, elysia has ensured that the museq is made to the highest build-quality standards. Proudly engineered and made in Germany, elysia utilizes only custom-designed parts and every unit is handcrafted to order and tested in their headquarters in Nettetal, Germany.
